Dalen Caspers, 90, of Clara City, died Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Cura of Willmar Therapy Suites in Willmar. His visitation will be 5-7:00 pm, Friday, December 6, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Clara City and continue from 12:30 – 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 7, at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City with his funeral service at 2:00 pm. Private interment will be at the church cemetery. Memorials can be made to

Dalen was born June 1, 1934, in Erickson Township, Renville County, Minnesota, the son of George and Lena (Dannen) Caspers. He grew up in the Sacred Heart area, attended District 98 for his elementary schooling and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1952. He briefly attended the Minneapolis School of Arts before returning home in 1955, upon the death of his father.
On February 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Janice Sunderland at the United Methodist Church of Montevideo. Following their marriage, they lived in and near Clara City.
Dalen was a life-long member of Bethany Reformed Church of Clara City, serving multiple times as a Deacon and an Elder, and was a man of strong faith in Jesus Christ. He was a member of and directed the choir at Bethany, as well as teaching Sunday School and Catechism to Bethany youth for decades. A talented singer and pianist, he was a founding member of the Messengers Quartet, which sang and recorded gospel music throughout the region for over twenty-five years.
Dalen worked at VSC in Clara City as a commercial artist and Advertising Director, and later at Color Press of Willmar as an Advertising Sales Manager. Additionally, Dalen owned and operated Creative Display Screeners of Clara City for many years. He was a well-known artist in the local area, painting numerous water color paintings of area scenes, buildings and drawing illustrations for historical publications.
Dalen was an avid outdoorsman, fishing and hunting in the area and Colorado with his bows. He was a member of the Little Crow Archers for decades. Dalen won numerous shooting competitions in Minnesota with his archery skill and was a state champion archer for many years as an individual and a team-mate with friends from Montevideo, Willmar and Clara City. He was inducted into the Minnesota Archery Hall of Fame in 2021. He was also a member of the Kiwanis of Willmar.
Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Janice; children, Jeffrey (Anita) Caspers of Rockford, MI; Lynn (Shari) Caspers of Burnsville; Dr. Guy (Beth) Caspers of Darwin; eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, a great-granddaughter and Todd, his 16-year old son.
