Betty L Mulder was born March 23, 1932, in Prinsburg, the daughter of Harm and Cora (Alstad) Mulder. They lived in Prinsburg where her father, Harm, was a repair man and after three years moved to Raymond where he started Mulder Motor Ford Sales and Repair.

Betty was a talented girl and at the age of 6 started piano lessons at Deda Boldt's house. Deda gave her piano lessons and also had a special room that was a dream-room for a little girl while her parents went to Minneapolis for new car sales.

Betty was very active in school activities including sports and cheerleading as well as serving as Class President. She graduated from Raymond High School in 1950, with having aspirations of being an attorney.

At the age of 12, Betty began playing piano for church services which were held above Stob's Store. This was the start of Raymond Christian Reformed Church where she was a charter member and was the last living charter member. Her unique style of playing the piano will be missed with her having to quit playing due to macular degeneration, failing eyesight.

She attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, where she was a dorm leader and played basketball.

Bill Goeman who was employed by the Duininck Companies and later was employed by Stob's Grocery. On October 2, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Bill at her parent's home in Raymond. Following their marriage, they moved to Coos Bay, OR, and she was hired and employed by Coos Bay Banking after a strong recommendation by Herbert Fieg who was the banker at Raymond.

After the Oregon experience they moved back to the Midwest and she became a secretary to her husband, Bill, at Goeman Insurance Agency for 65 years. Betty was a great asset to the agency.

Betty was very active in church activities, Bible School, Young Peoples Group and her home was open to meetings for Youth for Christ.

They were blessed with four children and thirteen grandchildren: Cindy (Rollie) Ammermann and Laura, Molly, Ryan and Matthew; Chip Goeman, and Kimm, Kara and Kyle; Kandi (Arnie) Plowman and Andrew, Elizabeth and Austin; Karla (Rod) Stoffels and Kevin, Kathryn and Kristin, and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Ettie, in 2023; and brother and sister-in-law, LuVerne (Arlie) Mulder.
