Gary Lee Stutelberg, 73, of Clara City, passed away on Monday, December 23, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City, with interment at St. Clara's Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday. Arrangements are being handled by Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Homes.
Gary was born on March 31, 1951, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Wallace and Delores (Abbas) Stutelberg. He grew up in Clara City, attending Clara City High School and graduating in 1969. On December 7, 1974, he married Patricia Haas, and they made their home in Clara City, where they raised two children: LeAnn and David.
Gary began his career in road construction with Duininck, Inc. and later drove truck for Duininck Concrete until his retirement in 2021. He also helped on the Schwitters farm during harvest season. Gary had a love for driving, whether behind the wheel of a truck or operating a tractor on the farm.
Gary enjoyed playing softball and was both a player and manager for the Hanger team for many years. He was also passionate about fantasy football and loved spending time with his family at his son's home on Norway Lake. Gary was always eager to help his children and grandchildren with car shopping or offering financial advice. He was quick to share his opinion and enjoyed a good debate with the guys uptown. Gary's affection for Pat's daycare children was immense, treating them like his own grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia; their children, LeAnn (James) Essendrup of Clara City and David Stutelberg of Sunburg; grandchildren Riley and Morgan; a sister, Linda (Norm) Andresen of Clara City; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Brian.
