Dallas Wesley Evans, age 81, of
Sunbury, Ohio passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, peacefully at his home.
On April 11, 1943, he was born in Delaware, Ohio, to Carl and Margaret (Rider) Evans. Dallas was a 1961 graduate of Delaware Willis High School. Growing up, he enjoyed riding horses and trail riding, farming, playing basketball, and was a member of the local 4-H and FFA clubs.
Dallas married Carol Ann Wentsler at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Delaware, Ohio. After marriage, he and Carol built their home and a life they loved in
Sunbury, Ohio. They refer to their home of 50 years as their "Heaven on Earth" where they raised their children. Carol and Dallas were blessed to share nearly 55 years of marriage.
Dallas attended The Ohio State University and Franklin University, as well as completed an apprenticeship at Independent Print. He worked as a plant manager at West-Camp Press, proudly purchased and owned The Spahr & Glenn Company from 1980 – 2006; he worked at Central Ohio Graphics and finally retired from West-Camp Press in 2020. Dallas was a driven man with a strong work ethic, and he absolutely treasured his work and even more so, the people who worked with him.
Dallas was a U.S. Army Reserves Veteran, a member of Sunbury United Methodist Church, Former President of The Master Printer Craftsman's Club, a Member of the Board of Directors of PICO (Printing Industry of Central Ohio), and a 32nd Degree Mason – Valley of Columbus Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite.
Dallas enjoyed watching The Ohio State University football & basketball, John Wayne movies and westerns in general, Square Dancing, and especially loved golfing in his retirement years. He also loved mowing, John Deere tractors, and spending time with his family and friends.
Dallas was known as "Big D" and "Cowboy" from his close friends. He had a way about him of instantly making you feel welcome and at ease. If there was a sporting event for his kids or his granddaughters, he was there. Dallas would tell you his proudest achievements were his two children, his marriage of nearly 55 years, and of course his two beloved granddaughters, Kate and Ella. Dallas will never be forgotten, will be forever loved, and deeply missed by all.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol; son, Dana Evans; daughter, Kelly Shuff and son-in-law, Josh Shuff; sister, Marilyn Fogle; niece, Whitney (Jason) Gentry; nephew, Gregg (Andrea) Fogle; granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Ella Shuff; and sister-in-law, Sue Evans.
Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margaret Evans; brother-in-law, Carroll Fogle; and his brother, Melvin Evans.
Dallas's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the family, friends, and colleagues that visited or reached out to Dallas, especially over his last month at home. Every one of you truly made an impact in his life, and he carried a deep respect for each of you.
