Daniel William "Dan" Conroy, 69, of Littleton, NC, formerly of Stephens City, VA, husband to Linda (née Nordman) Conroy, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 9, 2024, while wintering in Summerville, SC.
Dan was born in Newark, NJ, on August 22, 1954, to William and Ruth Conroy. During his teenage years his family moved to Houston, TX where Dan would meet his wife, Linda. At the young age of 19, he began working in the automotive parts sales industry and built it into a successful 45-year career of which he was very proud. This work would lead him from Houston, TX to Tulsa, OK and eventually Stephens City, VA.
Dan, also lovingly known as Pop, was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His world revolved around his family. He bought and renovated a lake house on Lake Gaston in 2016 as a place for them to make memories and as a legacy for future generations. Pop, along with Linda, filled the lake house not only with love but with every toy imaginable, and nothing filled him with more happiness than seeing his sons and their families enjoying it. Pop also welcomed countless friends to the lake house with open arms. When Pop wasn't at the lake taking sunset cruises with his wife, he could be found either in Washington, DC enjoying his two youngest grandsons or at the baseball fields in SC cheering on his older three grandsons. His daughter in-laws also kept him busy with countless handyman projects.
In addition to his loving wife of 45 years, Dan is survived by two sons and their wives, Ben (Katie) and Josh (Kim) Conroy; five grandsons, Luke, Cole, Rex, Eamon and Callum Conroy; his brother Glenn, sister Colleen, sister in-law Lisa (Rick) and nieces and nephews, Drew, Ryan, Allyson, Katie, Lyndsey, Zoe and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Dan's name to the National Wildlife Federation or Fight CRC. Links to these charitable foundations can be found below.
A celebration of Dan's wonderful life will be held at the lake house over the summer. The family will share details at a later date.
Anderson Funeral Home in Beaufort, SC is serving the family.
