Dan Hobson, age 52, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
Dan was born on June 30, 1973, in Farmington, Minnesota, to Richard and Monika (Staerk) Hobson. He grew up in Linwood Township and was a proud graduate of Forest Lake High School, Class of 1991. He went on to study chemical engineering at St. Cloud State University and worked for many years as a chemical technician at 3M.
A devoted father, Dan raised his two sons in Forest Lake. He was known for his infectious energy, quick wit, and generous spirit. Always the life of the party, Dan had a way of making people feel welcome and at ease — the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. He cherished time with his friends, and when he wasn’t socializing, he enjoyed relaxing with his favorite TV shows.
Dan had a big heart. In recent years, he became certified to officiate weddings and proudly took on the title “Pope Dan Hobson.” He married dozens of couples over the years and found joy in being part of such special moments in people’s lives.
Dan is preceded in death by his brother, Tim Hobson. He is survived by his beloved sons, Aidan Hobson and Connor (Emme Olsen) Hobson; his parents, Richard and Monika Hobson; brothers, Bob (Brenda) Hobson and Ron Hobson; nieces and nephews, Michael, Ashley, Lindsey, Christian, and Maren; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
