Dan Koosman, age 74, was welcomed home by our Lord and Savior on June 28, 2024. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Living Hope Church in Willmar. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the church. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dan's memory to Gideon's Ministry, Youth for Christ, Atlas, or Living Hope Church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org.
Dan was born on August 18th, 1949, in Appleton, MN to Sieghart and Verna Koosmann. He grew up and graduated from Appleton, MN in 1967. He obtained an associate's degree in business 1969 and later went on to serve 2 years in the Army in Vietnam as a Communications Director. 1973 he moved to Willmar and worked as a salesman at Erickson Furniture where he met his wife Jeanne Christie while "trying" to sell her a hope chest. They were engaged on New Years Eve and united in marriage on August 7, 1976.
In 1975 Dan entered the construction industry and built his first house where Dan and Jeanne lived on Eagle Lake. From there their family and business grew. Dan went on to build over 1000 homes and designed several developments throughout Minnesota and North Dakota. During this same time, Dan and Jeanne also grew their family and were blessed with one daughter (Felicia) and three sons (Ryan, Dustin, and Chad). Dan was proud of the amazing accomplishments of all his children and the time he was able to spend with his sons working side by side in the construction industry.
While many in the community knew Dan as a land developer and builder of homes, his calling was also to build God's kingdom. Dan and Jeanne raised their children to know God and believe in his eternal promise. Dan also dedicated his time to Gideons Ministry for over 25 years, served with jail ministries, and gave of his time and talent to Living Hope Church, most recently in the redesign of the chapel.
In his final weeks, Dan was not sad or scared of dying, instead he rejoiced in knowing he was meeting his Lord and Savior. He leaves a legacy with land he developed and the homes he built but more importantly the people he helped know and love God, especially his family. He was also at peace knowing his children and grandchildren had a personal relationship with God and one day the whole family would be reunited in heaven.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne: children: Ryan (Holly) Koosman of Spicer, Felicia (Josh) Swenson of Spicer, Dustin Koosman of Spicer and Chad (Angela) Koosman of Willmar. Dan is also survived by his grandchildren: Ian, Lyndi, Mia, Kaelyn, Mallory, Jace, Sophia and Ariel; siblings: Janice Heikkila, Ruth (Dan) Kershner, Roger (Lois) Koosmann, Jim Koosmann, Gary (Donna) Koosmann and Eunice (Brian) Hallet.
Dan was proceeded in death by his parents, Sieghart and Verna Koosmann, brothers-in-law: Gunard Heikkila and Tom Eberlein; and mother and father in-law, Leroy and Viola Christie.
Dan also encourages everyone who reads this message to seek God's will and grow in their relationship with our Lord and Savior.

We met Dan 2006. We were close to retiring and were looking to buy or build a home on Green Lake. With a little encouragement Dan and Jeanne agree to sell their home on the North Shore of Green Lake to us. We liked Dan, trusted him and a deal was make. We would frequently stop by his office for advice or just casual conversation. We will always remember Dan.
