Daniel Ray Ripperger, son of Raymond Thomas Ripperger and Reva Arlene (Shawler) Ripperger, was born on March 10, 1944, in Creston, Iowa. He attended and graduated from East Union High School in 1962.

On June 13, 1964, Dan was united in marriage to Rayma Ann Stewart at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Afton, Iowa. From this union came four children – Julia Marie, Peggy Sue, Tami Rae and Alex John. Dan primarily worked as a truck driver for Creston Feed & Grain and Farmer's Cooperative – between the two he worked for 48 years. Dan retired in 2017.

Dan loved coon hunting, participating in the World Coon Hunt Competition, going to flea markets, riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends, and taking trips to Cheyenne, Wyoming, Tennessee and Calgary, Canada; and most of all spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Dan was a member of the St. Edward's Catholic Church in Afton.

Dan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rayma Ripperger of Afton; his children, Julia Tilson of Leavenworth, KS, Tami (Randy) Arnold of Humeston, and Alex (Candace) Ripperger of Afton; sister Kathy Davis of Horseheads, New York; sisters-in-law, Sherry Ripperger of Des Moines, Barb Stewart of Lee Summit, MO. and Ramona Landers of Lorimor; brother-in-law, Robert Stewart; 9 grandchildren, Aaron Tilson, Cody (Allie) Tilson, Elijah (Caleb Thornton) Tilson, Sarah Woodsmall, Shane Woodsmall, Chet Arnold, Cali Arnold, Kacie (Will) Gordon and Seth Ripperger; along with 4 great-grandchildren, Dax, Amelia, Hadlee and Harvey; along with numerous family and friends.
