Dan Roskilly

Dan Roskilly, age 56, of Carol Stream, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025. Dan was born January 27, 1969 in Shawnee Mission, Kansas to Max and Phyllis (Hake) Roskilly. He married Sara Yendro on October 5, 2002 at St. Joan of Arc Church in Lisle.

Dan graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1987 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from Iowa State University in 1993. After college, he began his professional journey with Kmart Corporation. Over the course of 20 years, Dan rose through the ranks to become a Store Manager, serving in various locations throughout the Chicagoland area. He truly enjoyed his time at Kmart-especially the iconic Blue Light Specials. Kmart was also where he met the love of his life, making it an especially meaningful chapter of his life.

Dan later continued his retail management career at Goodwill Industries, where he served as a Store Manager for 10 years.

Outside of work, Dan had a passion for fishing, woodworking, and exploring flea markets. He cherished his annual fishing trips with his brothers and had a knack for finding and restoring unique wooden antiques. When he wasn't enjoying his hobbies or spending time with loved ones, he fully embraced his role as a "professional dad," proudly engaging in napping and TV time.

Dan was a loving son, brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Above all, Dan was a devoted husband and an incredible father, whose two children brought him his greatest joy. He always said he felt most complete when the family of four was all together.

In the face of tremendous challenges over the past eight years of battling cancer, Dan showed unwavering strength, courage, and resilience. Through the daily struggles, he continued to show up for his family. No matter the obstacles, he never stopped fighting.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Sara; his children Brianna & Nicholas Roskilly; his parents Max & Phyllis Roskilly; his siblings Pam (Bob) Perry & Shawn Roskilly; his mother-in-law Ann Yendro; and his brothers-in-law Dan (Vicki) Yendro & Todd (Susan) Yendro. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother Rod (the late Mary) Roskilly and his father-in-law Jerry Yendro.

A visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 565 Randy Road, Carol Stream, Illinois 60188, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 Noon.
