Dana Samuel Dillow, age 81, departed this life on November 11, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on February 22, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he was the son of Samuel Ephriam Dillow and Maybelle (Shackelton) Dillow.
Dana graduated from N.E. High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, and proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of E-6 before his honorable discharge. He went on to dedicate 38 years to the railroad industry, working as a dispatcher for BNSF until his retirement.
Throughout his life, Dana made his home in several places including Oklahoma City, Martell, and Lincoln, Nebraska, before settling in Weatherford, Texas. He was an avid sports fan especially his most favored Nebraska Corn Huskers! He had great love for oldies music - especially the band ABBA. Known for his signature beanie hat and hoodie, Dana was a man of firm opinions and honest words, never afraid to speak his mind. He loved Jesus, all animals, talking to everybody, and hanging with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally Dillow; son, David Dillow; parents; his siblings, Jocelyn Baade, Janet Dovel, and Jacques Dillow; and grandson, Randy Dillow.
Dana is survived by his grandsons, Derek Dillow and James Dillow; and great-granddaughters, Serenity Dillow, Violet Dillow, and Jewel Dillow, all of Weatherford and Fort Worth, Texas. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Diane Dillow of Rockford, Michigan; brother, Doyle Dillow; several other family and friends of Lincoln, Nebraska; and his dear friend, Carolyn Moore and her husband, Robbie and children, Abbie and Cameron of Weatherford, Texas, who loved him and adopted him into their family as grandpa.
An informal gathering to celebrate Dana's life will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the HighRidge Church, in Hudson Oaks, Texas. Dana will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
