Dana Joyce Sambuco died at Yale New Haven Hospital on March 22, 2024, with her parents and family members by her side. She was 39 years old,
Dana was born on June 5, 1984 to father Edmund and mother Joyce (Lumia) in Norwalk, Connecticut. She grew up in Norwalk, attending public schools there and graduating from Norwalk High School in 2002. From there she attended Goucher College in Maryland, graduating with a degree in English in 2006. After a short job stint, she attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst to receive a Master of Public Policy and Administration degree in 2010. She worked at the University of Michigan for a time, but eventually returned to Connecticut and began a flourishing and rewarding career in scientific medical publications. At the time of her death, she was an Associate Director of Scientific Communications at a major pharmaceutical. She was so very grateful for this opportunity, and she relished her job and her co-workers.
Dana was a skillful and compassionate listener with an infectious smile and a great sense of humor. Always the diplomat, she was well-attuned to how others felt, and could help get them through difficult situations. She was devoted and loyal to her family and friends. Her Yale doctors were greatly impressed by her tenacity, determination, and smile.
Dana was an avid reader of varied material. She loved swimming, riding the waves, and nature hiking. She loved travelling with family and friends, most recently to the Canadian Rockies.
Dana is survived by her parents and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, and also by her rescue cat, Biscuit.

Joyce and Ed,
I was so saddened hear of Dana's passing... She was always the bright spot in my day!!!! Dana was a shy curious little girl in my classroom. I will always remember her with a smile and a giggle. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I met Dana on my very first day at Envision. She welcomed me with her beautiful smile and made me feel very much at ease. Dana was always willing to help me navigate through the many functions in my role; she was my go to person that everybody relied and could depend on. Then I had the pleasure of interviewing her when she joined Ashfield, and I told my team that Dana was the best colleague to have join us. She was always a pleasure to work with and knew just how to calm the waters. I really missed her when she left Ashfield. I´ll never forget her infectious laugh, sense of humor, and bright outlook. God rest your beautiful soul and keep you safe, Dana.

Her smile, her positive attitude but mostly her humor and joy of life. She is a bright star now just as she was on Earth. Our loss is enormous but she´s joined the band of angels.

I met Dana on the first day of 6th grade, and she remained one of my closest friends through high school. At an awkward time for us all, she was immediately warm and friendly. We shared so many laughs, I loved Dana's sometimes dry but always hilarious sense of humor. We shared a deep love for animals, and Dana would do anything for a furry friend in need. My deepest condolences to family, friends, and of course, sweet Biscuit.

I worked with Dana a few years ago at Ashfield. Her capability, quick wit, and sense of fun helped make us a merry and supportive band of colleagues in a sometimes challenging environment. When she couldn´t join us this past summer for a group reunion, I assumed we´d have another opportunity to see her again. Knowing what this loss means to me, my thoughts go out to her family and those close to her.

I worked with Dana for many years at Envision Pharma Group. She was a pleasure to work with and so much fun to be around. This is truly tragic. My condolences to her family.
