Peter G. Hartshorne

Peter Gager Hartshorne, 67 of Norwalk, died Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Norwalk Hospital after a brief illness.

Peter was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on June 21, 1958, to the late Gaywood and Sally Gager Hartshorne. He lived in West Haven, Connecticut for most of his adult life, moving back to Norwalk five years ago to be near family.

Peter graduated from Norwalk High School, and he spent his working career as a heavy machine operator in the construction industry. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 478.

In his younger years, Peter was an avid hunter spending his free time in Vermont and working on a cabin that he was building. Peter got his love of Vermont from spending his summers at his Grandparents Farm in South Newfane, Vermont where he always felt most at home. He also had a soft spot and love for German Shepards and had several during his lifetime.

Peter is survived by his sister, Nancy Hartshorne of Norwalk and his cousins Bill Howard (Jeannine), David Howard (Violet), of Florida, Jim Howard of Connecticut and Carol Hartshorne Funk (Steve) of Maine and their respective children.

Interment will be private and at a later date this summer in Vermont.
