I'm so sorry to hear of Russ' passing. I'm sure nobody reading this will know me. I knew him in the early 90's as a pen pal/subscriber to my Bruins newsletter "What's Brewin". He was in Germany, and told me my newsletter was very helpful in keeping up with the team (in those days before the internet took off). I sent him some VHS tapes of Bruins games and he shared them and the newsletters with other fans in Germany. I thought that was really cool. We talked on the phone once, and exchanged many letters, which I still have. I found one of them the other day, and sadly, when I googled his name, I saw he is no longer with us. I'm sending my sincere condolences to his family. He was a very nice man.

Eva and Drew
We are all hopeful you and the entire family are leaning on each other during this difficult time. Even as we write this note we are in disbelief that he has passed.
As we look back at all the time we spent with your family at the Ice arenas all over New England it only brings a smile to our faces. In the first years it was dreaming our children would become star hockey players as we coached them in in the youth leagues. Then I remember very clearly Russ coming up with the Idea of starting a varsity team in Narragansett, it seemed like a long shot but he was determined. His focus and attention to detail along with his great debating skills attracted many families to get on board and after a few years it became a reality and Narragansett had a Varsity Hockey Program.
Whether it was coaching or playing in men's league together you could always count on one the fact he would always be in the right place at the right time.
I truly believe he is in a better place looking down on us all in his German Jersey waiting for us to join him one day again.
Farewell old friend, rest in peace knowing your story will be told and you will not be forgotten
