Daniel "Dan" Bennett

Daniel R. Bennett, 89, known to family and friends as Dan, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Indian Trail, North Carolina.

Dan was born on April 24, 1936, in Milford, Delaware, to the late Wilbur P. Bennett and Clara Daniel Bennett. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, and was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

He devoted 30 years of his professional career to DuPont, where he worked in photo product sales. His career took him and his family to San Antonio and Houston, Texas, where they lived for 20 years, followed by another 20 years in Pinehurst, North Carolina, a place he came to cherish deeply.

Dan was married to Dorothy "Dottie" Wells Bennett for 60 years, until her passing in 2023. Their marriage was a cornerstone of his life and a source of great joy and stability.

An avid sports enthusiast, Dan especially loved golf, along with many other sports. He was known for his warm sense of humor, infectious laughter, and ability to make others laugh. Above all, he was a loving and devoted father and grandfather, deeply committed to his family.

Dan was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

He is survived by his three sons: Daniel Bennett, Jr. (Tangee), Matthew Bennett (Terry), and Andrew Bennett (Amy); and his six grandchildren, Kydie Stefano, Emily Huff, Halee Lapinsky, Anna Snead, Samuel Bennett, Otto Bennett and great grandchildren: Adalyn Huff, Charlie Stefano, Shepherd Stefano, Flory Lapinsky, Juniper Huff and Daisy Snead, who were a constant source of pride and joy.

In addition to his wife, Dan was preceded in death by his brothers, Norman Bennett and Thomas Bennett, and his sister, Florence Allen.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date when arrangements are finalized.
