Gregory Vaughn Talbert
June 6, 1961 – January17, 2026
Gregory Vaughn Talbert was born at Charlotte Memorial Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, to J.W. (“Dub”) and Kaye Talbert. He made his profession of faith in Jesus Christ at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, where he grew up and was named after a pillar of faith in that community, “Grandfather”Vaughn Padgett. His faith sustained him through the final years of his life as he courageously battled heart failure.
Greg graduated from Olympic High School in 1979 and began his career with Frito-Lay. He later worked as a technician for Verizon, where he remained until retiring early in 2011 due to health reasons.
Greg had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and off-roading. He was also well known for his love of barbecuing and generously shared this gift with his family, church, friends, and all who gathered around his table.
He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail for many years. He later began attending Central Church of God in Charlotte again, where he once worshiped with his young family. In his words “The Lord led him back home.”
Greg is survived by his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Brittany (Jonathan); his son, Tyler; his mother, Kaye Talbert; his sister, Deborah Patton (Steve); his brother, Reginald Talbert (Allison); four cherished grandchildren; Brantley, Maggie, Paxton, and Watson. As well as many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Though deeply loved and greatly missed, his family finds comfort in the assurance that they will see him again through the blessed hope of the resurrection found in Jesus Christ.
