Obituary of Daniel R. Bremer
Pastor Daniel R. Bremer, age 87, peacefully graduated to Heaven on May 22, 2023. Dan Bremer was a zealous advocate for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and many people are in Heaven today because of his life, ministry, influence, and example in pointing people to Jesus. The preeminent concerns of Dan's life were following Jesus and making His name known. Without doubt, Dan was greeted by his Maker with the words of Matthew 25:21 (ESV), "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Dan was born to the late Daniel Sinclair Bremer and the late Gertrude Petry Bremer and spent the early formative years of his childhood in the Corona neighborhood of the Borough of Queens in New York City. During an incident in which he nearly drowned, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob placed a call on Dan's life to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and Dan surrendered his life to Christ and committed to spending his life preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Much like the apostles, Dan dropped what he was doing to follow Jesus.
Dan began his ministry by preaching in the streets of New York City as a teenager. As he grew older, Dan resolved to become a student of the scriptures, and at age 16, he took a train from New York City to Atlanta, Georgia, by himself to attend Beulah Heights Bible Institute (now Beulah Heights University) where he met his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Waddell Bremer. Dan later attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where he pursued his Master of Divinity degree to better prepare himself to continue his full-time vocational ministry.
Dan never shied away from employing creative tactics in his ministry-including one memorable instance where he agreed to preach from the rooftop of the church after Sunday School attendance reached a new record. Dan made certain that his sermons were fundamentally centered on the scriptures and were doctrinally sound. In his later years of ministry, Dan served as a mentor to younger pastors. Dan primarily pastored congregations in Georgia-but also Kentucky and Michigan-with the two largest being Sugar Hill Baptist Church in Sugar Hill, Georgia, and First Baptist Church of East Point, Georgia.
Dan took the Great Commission seriously and did his part to make the name of Jesus known to the nations. During his vocational ministry and even in retirement, Dan made disciples and proclaimed the Gospel to many unreached people groups-including in remote sections of Cuba, St. Maarten, and Mexico where he also worked to plant churches with local ministers. In Mexico specifically, Dan assisted in constructing church buildings and trained pastors both in how to shepherd a congregation and in the art of preaching.
Dan understood and embraced the words of C.T. Studd who said, "Only one life, 'twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last." During his career, Dan also owned and operated several business ventures, including a clothing store named Daniel's Den and a daycare center called Real Life Playschool, which served as extensions of his professional vocational ministry that he also used to share the Gospel. Even in his final years of life, Dan continued to share the good news of Jesus with anyone who crossed his path-from children to teenagers to senior citizens who lived with him in his assisted living community. Dan never wanted to miss an opportunity to share the hope found in Jesus alone, and his unswerving commitment to sharing the Gospel throughout his life will be the most enduring aspect of his legacy.
In addition to his ministerial and professional roles, Dan was also a devoted husband to Elizabeth for 66 years, as well as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Dan made sure that the members of his family also knew Jesus personally and that each member was equipped and well-positioned to do his or her part to help fulfill the Great Commission. Dan bathed his family in prayer, and he provided wise Biblical counsel when members of his family needed it. Dan encouraged members of his family to become students of the scriptures and to not neglect corporate worship, tithing, daily prayer, and scripture reading. For his family, the Godly legacy of faithfulness that he left will forever be a treasure and firm foundation for generations to come.
Dan was preceded in death by his Father, Daniel Sinclair Bremer; his Mother, Gertrude Petry Bremer; and his brother, Edward Bremer.
Dan is survived by his wife Elizabeth Waddell Bremer; children and spouses: Donna (Francois) Morrow, Ruth (Terry) Bramlett, Danny (Kim) Bremer; and Mark (Amy) Bremer; grandchildren and spouses: Branda (Mike) Morris; Payton Bramlett; Leigh Ann (Zachary) Morrison; Dalton (Jackie) Daniel; Jacquelann (Keyth) Fightmaster; Gabriel (Lilly) Bremer; and Abigail Bremer; great grandchildren: Grace Morris; Patrick Morris; and Blakely Ann Morrison.
A celebration of Dan's life and legacy is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel, with Dr. Tyler Smiley, Dr. Tom Smiley, Dr. Jerry Gill, and Reverend John Dell officiating. Music provided by Ruth Bramlett, Stan and Lisa Bell, and Francois Morrow. Interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the funeral home.

Dan was right there for me when I lost my wife Pam suddenly from an aneurysm back in 2005. He preached her graveside service and called me numerous times for weeks just to check on me. Dan was a true friend and fun to be around. The world has lost a wonderful soul but Heaven has gained a true man of God. We will miss you Dan and will be together one day again.
