Daniel Archer Brown was born to Charlie & Ruth Archer Brown on August 4th 1929 in Chico, California. In addition to his parents, he had a brother Richard and sister Betty who preceded him in passing and is survived by a sister Carol Anderson.
He married Margaret Lois (Peggy) Rush on September 16th 1949. They had 4 children Sharon (her twin brother William who passed away shortly after his birth), Cindy and Carl. He has 6 grandchildren Shannon, Mat, Eric, Mark, Karen and Bryce as well as 9 great grandkids, Mary, Alex, Anabelle, Joel, Damian, Katie, Abby, Cora and Savanna.
Together Dan & Peggy farmed in Chico until 1960 when he started in the insurance business in Chico. The family moved to Canby, Oregon in May of 1962 and they then bought an insurance agency in Woodburn, moving the family there in 1963, retiring in 1996.
Dan and Peggy traveled extensively over the years and, for many years, in Campers and Motorhomes often pulling various boats. An avid fisherman and hunter Dan and Peggy spent lots of time in the outdoors. They bought a park model in Casa Grande, AZ and spent many winters there while Also still enjoying the motorhome lifestyle.
Peggy passed away in 2009, 3 months before their 60th wedding anniversary. Dan then reconnected with a former high school friend Carol Jeanette and they married on 11-13-2011 in Cottonwood, AZ and they were still happily married at the time of his passing. They also shared several winters together in Casa Grande, and many miles in motorhomes.
Dan joined the Kiwanis in 1063 and was still an active member of the Woodburn Kiwanis Club at the time of his passing, serving as president twice and once as Lieutenant governor. He was awarded the Legion of Honor for his many years of service to his community through Kiwanis. Dan was also a volunteer firefighter with the Woodburn Fire District for over 25 years. He was selected as Senior First Citizen in Woodburn. He was a member of the Woodburn Christian church and had a strong faith in God.
Many thought Dan to have a very tough personality, but in reality had a very caring side with a heart of gold and helped many.
He passed away peacefully on December 07 20224 at Country Meadows Assisted Living Facility.
The family would like to thank all his many friends and the staff at Country Meadows for all their loving care over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the AWARE FOOD BANK in Woodburn, Woodburn Christian Church or the charity of your choice.
