Daniel P COOK, 67, of Belmont, NY, died Sunday, November 16, 2025 in Cuba Memorial Hospital.
Born August 19, 1958, in Wellsville, he was the son of Paul and Delores Post Cook. On January 18, 1998, in Belmont he married Lisa Kiefer, who survives. Dan attended Wellsville Central School and worked in sheet metal and tin fabrication. He started with Wellsville Roofing & Sheet Metal and later worked with William C. McCombs of Rochester and MJ Mechanical of Olean. Dan was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed fishing. In his younger days, he played bass guitar in several rock and roll bands, including the band Runner. Dan was a member of Sons of the American Legion Squadron 702 in Wellsville.
Surviving besides his wife, Lisa, are: two daughters, Christy Fleig of Batavia and Niki Cook of Oakfield; a grandson, Tanner Cook; four siblings, Gail Buchholz of Wellsville, Gloria Cook of Wellsville, Ted (Sue) Cook of Wellsville, and Paul (Lori) Cook of Salamanca; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenny Cook; a sister Tina Schrader; his father-in-law, Harold “Hal” Kiefer; and his mother-in-law, Gail Harkness Schroeder.
A gathering to celebrate Dan’s life will be held at the Belmont American Legion Post #808 on Saturday, December 6, 2025 beginning at 1:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
