Daniel "Dan" Coram, born on January 6, 1953, in
Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at the age of 72, at the Continuous Care Center in
Wheeling, WV.
Dan dedicated over 40 years of his life to the field of education, leaving an indelible mark on countless students and colleagues. He began his career with Ohio County Schools as a Physical Education teacher, eventually advancing to the roles of Assistant Principal and Principal. Even after his retirement, Dan continued to contribute to the educational community as a substitute teacher in Marshall County Schools. His passion was helping students achieve their true potential and making a positive impact on their lives.
A 1971 graduate of Wheeling High School, Dan furthered his education at West Liberty State College and went on to earn two Master's Degrees from West Virginia University. His commitment to learning and personal development was evident throughout his life.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dan was a man of diverse interests. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends at the Viking Social Poker Club in Steubenville, OH, and was an avid racquetball player. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his children and beloved granddaughter, Paisleigh.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Betty Coram. He is survived by his children, Michael Coram and Ashley Megela (Zachary), his adored granddaughter, Paisleigh, and one brother.
Family and friends will gather at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street,
Wheeling, WV on Friday, August 15, 2025, 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Dan's Funeral will be held at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2 Richmond Ave.,
Wheeling, WV on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00AM with Rev. Deb Gable.
Dan's legacy will be remembered by all who knew him, as a devoted educator, a loving father and grandfather, and a cherished friend.
