Athens - Timothy Preston Hartman, 78, of Athens, died Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Kimes Nursing and Rehab in Athens, Ohio.
Born March 4, 1947, in South Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Harold Wilson and Katherine Dunn Hartman. Tim grew up in St. Albans, WV and graduated from St Albans High School. In 1969 he and Kathleen Ayers were married in Montgomery, West Virginia. He received his Masters Degree from West Virginia University in 1973 and his Doctorate from Ohio University in 1977. Tim and Kathy moved to Athens in 1973 and have been lifelong residents ever since. He taught at the Ohio University School of Business for over thirty years in the Marketing Department. He and Kathy were members of the Bobcat Club and avid Bobcat athletic supporters. He was very active in many clubs and organizations over the years in the Athens area as well as being the President of the Athens Lions Club.
Tim is survived by two daughters, Katherine “Katie” (Ryan Ham) Hartman and Amber (Kevin) Cramer; one granddaughter, Emily Cramer and one brother, Harold Wilson “Bud” Hartman II.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Kathy in 2021 and one brother Roger Hartman.
Services will be held at a later date to be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Athens Lions Club, PO Box 445 Athens, Ohio 45701. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hughes Funeral Home on Athens, Ohio.
