Daniel Thomas Crabb, age 77, passed away on November 13, 2023, while he was out shopping.
His heart finally gave out. He had given so much love and light to his family and friends and all he
encountered.
He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota, Florida, in 1964. After a brief stint in
college, he enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in January 1990. He completed
his bachelor's degree in physics at the University of South Florida in 1975. Following his graduation,
he was employed as a bench chemist by Thornton Lab in Tampa, Florida. He moved to Tallahassee
and began a long career of State Service with the Department of Natural Resources and concluded
with the Department of Community Affairs, Emergency Services.
He met his spouse, Martha Porter Crabb, while he was attending USF. They were married in 1974
in Myakka River State Park and were preparing to celebrate their 50th anniversary in March 2024.
He retired in 2003 and pursued his many hobbies: electronics, music, carpentry, reading, and
stained glass among many other pursuits.
He was predeceased by his father, Warren D. Crabb; his mother, Genevieve J. Crabb; and his brothers Warren, Robert, and David Crabb.
He is survived by his spouse as well as his sister Judith Kovacs. He leaves behind a host of grieving nephews, nieces, and other family and friends. His humor, his talent, and his big heart will be
missed by all who knew him.
Plans for services will be announced at a later date (likely a celebration of life ceremony in Tallahassee, Florida, on Friday January 19, 2024).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Harvest of the Big Bend (4446 Entrepot
Boulevard, Tallahassee, FL 32310), the Carter Foundation (https://www.cartercenter.org/), the
Salvation Army, or other charity of your choice.
Dayne Parker of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family
with their arrangements.
