Timothy James Schultz Obituary

“He leaves us with a smile”

Timothy (Tim) James Schultz, known for his sense of humor, adventurous spirit and zest for life, passed away on January 21, 2026 in Waterloo, WI. Born in Racine, WI on July 20, 1948, Tim was the third son out of five children, born to Robert LaFollett and Ann Elizabeth (Betty Gamsky) Schultz. Remembered for his kindness, he never met a stranger and positively touched everyone who crossed his path, using humor as the best way to communicate.

Tim is survived by his wife Dina of 33 years. They were married in Las Vegas, NV. Always ready to meet new challenges and opportunities, their corporate careers led them to live and work in several states, including MO, GA, WI, and IL. Tim loved his wife dearly and their five children and nine grandchildren. Even though the “kids” were scattered across the U.S., they always scheduled trips to visit each family and enjoyed each trip with so many fun activities.

Other survivors include Tim’s beloved children Jason (Stacey) Schultz of Allen, TX, Jamie (Josh) Saitta of Bozeman, MT, Ryan (Jamee) Schultz of Colorado Springs, CO, Brandon (Alicia) Wallace of Marthasville, MO and Lindsay Wallace of Sun Prairie, WI. Tim made many happy memories with his grandchildren Riley, Parker, Wade, Reed, Knox, Wren, Lillian, Sawyer and Bridger. He was a loved Dad, Grandpa and PaPa.

Additional survivors include his sibling family William (Darlene) Schultz and Betteanne (Mike) Smith. Tim was always the family jokester. He loved to tell funny jokes … sometimes the dumber the better since he enjoyed the reactions of those on the receiving end.

Surviving brothers and sister-in-laws include Jeffrey (Lisa) Neisen, Lisa Neisen, Erin (Chris) Mohr, Eric Neisen, Kristin (Kent) Brotherton and Stacey (Joe) Heberlein. His surviving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will never forget Tim’s kindness and witty sense of humor and ability to make them laugh.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ann Elizabeth Schultz, parents-in-laws Norbert and Sharon Neisen, grandparents Arthur and Margaret Gamsky and Julius and Marie Schultz, brothers John Schultz and Bob Schultz, sister-in-law Marilyn Schultz and nephew Cooper Heberlein.

While living in Racine, WI, one of Tim’s favorite memories was going to a nearby pond in the winter, with a bunch of neighborhood friends, to shovel the pond, build a bonfire, then play hockey all day long. After leaving WI, as a 10-year-old boy, Tim’s family moved to Boonville, MO where he grew up in a rural area experiencing many boyhood memories. With his undeniable sense of curiosity, he climbed the Boonville Water Tower, under construction, to sit on top and enjoy the view, played all day outside with his brothers while getting into mischief and found ways to make money for buying things and go to the local Dairy Queen.

Tim’s various childhood jobs included bubble bath salesperson, walnut gatherer, mowing and yard cleanup and paperboy. Riding in a snub-nosed 1950’s milk truck, driven by Sombart’s dairy owner, while standing, he delivered glass milk bottles to porches of customers. As a young teen Tim worked on several rural farms hauling and stacking hay, brush hogging, feeding cattle and pulling volunteer corn from soybean fields in the hot Missouri summer. He was a cave tour guide, restaurant busboy and outside laborer, who was also tasked with searching for evidence of the Underground Railroad in the crawl space under a Civil War era home in Rocheport, MO. At the restaurant where he worked, Tim helped Sioux Chief Red Fox, nephew of Crazy Horse, build a teepee after cutting saplings, as directed by the Chief. Chief Red Fox, as a young boy, walked Custer’s battlefield the day after the battle before the battlefield was “cleared.”

After graduating from Boonville High School, with the recognition of being Mr. Boonville High and senior class president, Tim received a Congressional appointment to enter the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, Long Island, NY. The Academy is one of the five military academies in the U.S. During his four-year training at the USMMA, he spent one year at sea traveling to numerous ports around the world.

Upon graduation in 1973, Tim received a Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science, a Coast Guard issued 3rd Mate license that allowed him to serve as a merchant marine deck office manning the ship’s bridge of large maritime vessels. Graduation from the Academy also included an officer’s commission in the Navy or Coast Guard. Tim chose to activate his commission as a U.S. Coast Guard officer and served six years as a Marine Inspection Officer and an Investigative Officer. In addition to his marine inspection duties, he investigated marine casualties and fatalities along the west coast of FL.

Being an avid learner, Tim obtained several degrees including a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, a Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO and became a Certified Public Accountant setting the stage for a career as an owner and founder of his CPA practice. Later he entered the corporate world as a Vice President of Finance and Administration. Due to health issues, Tim retired in 2012; however, he traveled with Dina who, as a COO of insurance companies, entertained insurance agents on top agent reward trips throughout the U.S. and abroad. He enjoyed helping Dina by interacting with the agents with his outgoing personality and humor during their numerous trip activities and travel.

Throughout his life, Tim loved keeping busy with many activities including golf, earning a black belt in Taekwondo, tennis, and his continued effort to learn Spanish. When traveling abroad, he learned basic language skills of countries that Dina and he visited, as a form of respect for their cultures. In addition, Tim was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan where he spent hours cheering on his favorite sports teams. Most of all, he loved all the dogs in his life. His favorite was a border terrier/Jack Russell terrier mix named Henri who seized each new day because of its exciting new adventures. No doubt, these two are running around in Heaven together enjoying each new day.

Not a day goes by that Tim is not thought of and remembered. We take comfort to know he is with Jesus, probably telling his jokes, watching over us with a smile. This man permanently affects us. Our lives are forever changed because he was in it. Rest in peace Tim … our husband, dad, brother, grandpa, uncle, cousin and friend.

As a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Tim’s private family and friend’s memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday January 31, 2026, at PEACE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1007 Stonehaven Dr. Sun Prairie, WI 53590.
