Obituary of Daniel F. Curran

Daniel F. Curran of Somers, New York died peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the age of 92. He was a 40+ year resident of Scarsdale, New York before moving to Somers.

Daniel was born in New York City and was the child of the late John and Bridget "Bridie" Curran. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY in 1955 and his graduation marked only the 11th annual commencement of the college.

Daniel was an incredibly proud United States Marine. He served from September 1955 to July 1963 when he was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. He lived by the Semper Fi motto, always willing to lend a loyal and faithful helping hand to his family and friends.

Daniel worked as an Auditor with the Grand Union Corporation for nearly 40 years before retiring.

Daniel was the youngest of three children and was predeceased by his sister, Ellen along with her husband Gerard Schuh of Somers, NY and his brother, John along with his wife Patricia Curran of Wilton, CT.

Daniel is a beloved Uncle and is survived by his 7 nieces and nephews. John Curran of Wilton, CT, Elizabeth Curran of Palmetto, FL, Joseph Curran of Wilton, CT, Patricia and her husband Greg Caggainello of Wilton, CT, David and his wife Irene Schuh of Basking Ridge, NJ, Doreen and her husband Kenny Martirano of Cortlandt Manor, NY and Dennis and his wife Robin Schuh of New Canaan, CT.

Daniel also is survived by 16 great nieces and nephews and by 2 great, great nieces and nephews.

Daniel was well known for his constant smile and positivity. He was fondly known as Mr. America, Danny Boy or Prince Daniel in his home. Daniel had a wonderful sense of humor and was always making everyone smile. He loved every dog he met and was surely reunited with his 4 Miniature Schnauzers (Kerry, Skipper, Pookie Bear and Clancy) in heaven.

The family will be receive friends on Tuesday, December 23rd from 9:00am to 9:30 am at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.

The Mass of Christian Burial will follow and will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 23rd at 10:00 am at St. Mary Of The Assumption Church, 55 Valley Road, Katonah, NY.

Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532
