Daniel “Dan”,“Danno” Burke, 63, of Hazelhurst, WI passed January 17, 2026. Daniel was born January 21, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Edmund and Alice (Weimer) Burke. It is with a heavy heart that the Hazelhurst Fire Department has to acknowledge the passing of former Assistant Chief, Dan “Danno” Burke. Danno moved to Hazelhurst in the early 1990’s and joined the department shortly thereafter. He loved being on the department and strived to be a great fireman, all the while, quick with a joke to lighten the mood. He became Assistant Chief in 2014 and served 10 years in that position. Danno always helped at the department fundraiser’s, and everyone knew his sly little grin and twinkle in his eye. He will be greatly missed at our department and throughout the community.
Surviving are his sisters, Patricia Baker, Wounder Lake, IL; Jeanne Kerkera, Crystal Lake, IL; brother, David Burke, Green Bay, WI., and Carla Burke, Hazelhurst.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 7, 2026 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Hazelhurst Pub in Hazelhurst.
