Daniel Dempsey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Earle Funeral Home - Blackwood on Oct. 5, 2024.
Daniel Dempsey, Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and son, passed away on October 4, 2024, in Franklinville, NJ, following a hard-fought battle with End Stage Renal Disease.
Daniel was born on December 18, 1961, in Philadelphia, PA. Beloved son of Margaret Van Allen (nee Burke). He shared nearly 40 years of marriage with his cherished wife, Mary Dempsey (nee Bryant). Together, they built a life full of love, adventure, and shared passions. He was a devoted father to his son, Daniel Dempsey, Jr., and daughter, Fawn Dempsey (Patrick). He will forever be remembered by his siblings, Kim Nigro (Loren), Frank Van Allen (Nicole), and Kelly Chille (Steve). His presence will also be profoundly missed by his mother-in-law Mary Bryant (father-in-law the late Robert Bryant, Sr.), many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, as well as his beloved dogs, Sassy and Skipper.
After proudly serving his Country in the United States Marine Corps, Daniel embarked on a career with the National DCP trucking company, where he dedicated 31 years of tireless service.
Daniel's love for the outdoors was a cornerstone in his life. He was happiest when he was on the water, sharing his passion for boating, fishing, and crabbing with his family. Whether he was tending to his vegetable garden or working in his garage, tinkering with motors and rebuilding cars, Daniel found solace and joy in the simple acts of creation and repair.
Known for his love of bargain hunting, Daniel was an avid attendee of auctions and flea markets. You could call him the "original picker," always finding hidden treasures among the overlooked and the undervalued. His family and friends will fondly remember his uncanny ability to spot the potential in the rusted and the worn.
As we bid farewell to Daniel Dempsey, Sr., we celebrate a life that exemplified the value of hard work and the importance of family.
Viewing will be Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church Street, Blackwood, NJ 08012, where his funeral service will begin at 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, his family would deeply appreciate donations be made to them to help defer end of life expenses. Condolences may be shared at www.earlefuneralhome.com

My condolences to the family, Dan and I worked to get together for 30 years at Dunkin, he was one of the old timers. When ever I saw him I would joke with him and say," you still work here," He would laugh and say is that what you call this! I will miss him. God speed Dan, thanks for the memories !

I worked closely with Dan for better then 20 years and watched as he poured his heart and soul into each challenge he was given. He was a kind, quiet, creative and determined man whom I am proud to say was my friend. Love and Miss Him RIP Danny!!
