Daniel J. DeMuth

Dan DeMuth, age 49, of Monroe, WI, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, at the SSM Hospice Home in Monroe, surrounded by love. His life may have been shortened by cancer, but it was never robbed of happiness, laughter, or friendship.

Born on December 6, 1975-Dan brought with him an unmatched wit, gift for conversation, and vast knowledge of sports and music. He was 1993 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School and went on to complete a broadcasting program at Madison Media Institute. It was in Madison that his lifelong love of the Wisconsin Badgers took root.

Dan worked in radio broadcasting throughout the Midwest, where his voice became a familiar one to many. In 1999, while working as a DJ, he took a phone call from a listener looking for free concert tickets. It ended up being a call that introduced him to the love of his life, Lisa Mai. They were married on June 18, 2005, and built their home and family together in Monroe.

After moving to Wisconsin, Dan transitioned into financial services, ultimately concluding his career with the USDA's Farm Loan Program. A natural networker, Dan also discovered a passion for community service. He used his charisma and energy to raise tens of thousands of dollars for causes including Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, Main Street Monroe, Cheese Days and the local Lions Club.

But Dan's most cherished role was within the walls of his own home. He and Lisa were blessed with three children: Madeline (Maddie) in 2008, and twins Jacob and Michael in 2013-his humorous take on twin boys was God had sent him "karma" for all of his own youthful shenanigans. He delighted in family vacations, fishing at local lakes, cheering at sporting events, and soaking up every minute of togetherness.

Dan had strong opinions and distinct passions-he loved Happy Joe's pizza, football season, card games, and music of every genre. He did not love raw onions, public whistling, or football commentary from Joe Buck & Tony Romo. He will be remembered for his sparkling humor, random acts of kindness, and his ever-growing collection of flashy sneakers-well over a hundred pairs-each of which he assured Lisa was "the last one" he was buying.

Dan encouraged his children to chase opportunities, live generously, and treat everyone-from the janitor to the CEO-with equal respect. He lived life by his motto: "Just wing it," even when it was something he probably shouldn't ''wing''.

He treasured midnight feedings with his newborn twins, breakfasts with friends, coaching his kids' teams, and every small joy of family life. No title meant more to him than "Dad."

Dan is survived by his wife Lisa and their children Madeline, Jacob, and Michael; his mother Karen DeMuth; siblings Doug (Karen) DeMuth, Dave (Mandy) DeMuth, and Darcy (Gary) Wagner; in-laws Don and Mary Jo Mai; brother-in-law Steve (Jen) Mai; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Terry DeMuth; grandparents Ron and Eileen Newton and Pearl and Alfred DeMuth; and an unborn child in 2007.

One lifetime with Dan could never be enough. Those who knew him were blessed to be loved by him and proud to be called his family and friends.

A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Reverend Zach Bloom officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, August 15th, from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the children's education c/o Lisa DeMuth-Team DeMuth, Wisconsin Bank and Trust, 1717 10th Street, Monroe, WI 53566.
