Obituary of Daniel DeSerio
Daniel DeSerio, age 72, tragically passed on January 26, 2024, in a pedestrian hit-and-run accident. He will be sorely missed by his three sons, Gregg Ciabattoni; Nicholas (Kara); and Daniel; his grandchildren, Gavin and Madden; his siblings, Mark (Marie); Robert (Jean); Donna Bochnik (Joe); and Karen Lauder, (Glenn); his lifelong best friends Ralph Miele and Dennis Brady, and dear friends Duane and Rubin, among countless others. He is predeceased by his newborn, Michael; parents, Roma and Sebastian; and nephew, Stephen.
Dan was a part of the fabric of Nyack and Piermont as he performed his window washing over the past 24 years. Previously, he was a route salesman for Archway Cookies, and then, Drake's. Upon his Drake's retirement, he continued his window washing business until his passing.
Though he loved the time he spent in the towns of Nyack and Piermont, his greatest love and pride was for his children and grandchildren; they were his life. He was an avid reader and sports enthusiast. He loved to talk politics and world news, always an amazing fount of facts and figures. Dan was a great cook and his baked clams and chicken wings were a staple at every family party. Mostly, though, he was a kind and generous soul, who instantly connected with all he met. Dan lived modestly and loved deeply. We know his radiant smile and witty personality will be missed by everyone who was blessed to have known him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 4pm-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, 11:15am at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville, followed by interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
