DANIEL A. DREYFUSS M.D.

DREYFUSS, Daniel A. M.D. DREYFUSS, Daniel A., M.D. of Brookline, formerly of Newton, peacefully passed away on October 9, 2025, at age 82. Born in Jerusalem, he served as a military officer in three wars before emigrating to the U.S. in 1982. A compassionate psychiatrist specializing in addiction psychiatry, he worked at at a number of settings including Tufts Medical Center and the VA Medical Center, Jamaica Plain, concluding his career in private practice until a stroke in 2020. Beloved partner of Marilyn Edelson; son of the late Adina (Lachovitzki) and Fritz Dreyfuss; father of Peri Dreyfuss-Kaufman, Jonathan Dreyfuss, and Eliane Dreyfuss; grandfather of Leo, Micah, and Noa; brother of Gideon and Arnon Dreyfuss; and uncle of Philip, Michael, Ilan, and Gil Dreyfuss. He had a lifelong love of animals, saying he learned much about human nature from them. Graveside Service on Thursday, October 16, 12 p.m., Newton Cemetery and Arboretum, Newton.
