Daniel Dunn Obituary

Daniel P. Dunn
Waterbury - Daniel P. Dunn passed away suddenly on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 79 years old. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Foley) Dunn for 53 years.
He was a Navy veteran during the Vietnam war on the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. He worked for 35 years for Marvel S. Crew Machine and, after retirement, he worked as a crossing guard at Duggan School and at Easter Seals for 10 more years until he retired at the age of 78.
He was the son of Eileen (Cavanaugh) Dunn and William Dunn, both deceased. He also had a brother, Raymond, who is deceased. He loved his German Shepherd, Molly, who is also deceased.
He has survived by his wife, Mary (Foley) Dunn; his son, Patrick Dunn of Charleston, Rhode Island; his daughter, Carrie of Waterbury; and several cousins and nieces and nephews.
He was a quiet, gentle, and devoted husband to his family, and he had a good sense of humor. He worked hard all his life, even after retirement. He was loved by all his neighbors and enjoyed going to Block Island for the last 40 years. He also played Santa for the Bunker Hill neighborhood tree lighting, riding the fire engine and seeing many children for over 25 years.
If anyone wishes to, they may donate to Easter Seals of Waterbury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament. Visitation will be held prior from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will be held privately.
