Daniel Dusek Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis Greenlawn Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries on Jan. 17, 2026.
Daniel Alfonse Dusek, a veteran of the Vietnam War, lifelong Catholic, and longtime resident of Fort Bend County, passed away on January 16, 2026, following complications from open heart surgery.

He was born on August 23, 1945, to Louise Lucy Beran Dusek and Alfonse John Dusek in East Bernard, Texas.

Dan grew up attending Catholic grade school, graduated from Lamar High School in 1963, and attended Wharton County Junior College, before entering the U.S. Army. He served his country honorably in Vietnam, earning the rank of Specialist 5 (Technician) and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Expert (Rifle M-14) Award.

Supporting him through his service was the love of his life, Judy Carolyn (Prewett) Dusek, whom he married on August 28, 1965. Upon discharge from the Army, Dan and Judy made their home in Sugar Land, TX, where together they had one daughter, Layne.

Prior to entering the Army, Dan had begun his professional career in the shop of what was then called W-K-M, and that was where he returned upon coming home. Fifty years, four bowling trophies and fourteen corporate name changes later, Dan retired from that same company, having worked his way up into the echelons of corporate contract management.

Dan spent his happiest days hunting, fishing and working in his yard.

Following 60 years of marriage, Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy. His mother and father preceded him as well.

He is survived by his daughter Layne and her husband, John Acker; grandchildren Oliver, Cale and Roan; brothers Larry Dusek (Merilyn) and E.J. Dusek; his sisters, Patty Kuldanek (Scott) and Cathy Prazak (Eddie); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 21, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with a rosary and memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. A graveside service with military honors will immediately follow the memorial service. The visitation and memorial will take place in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd., Rosenberg, TX 77471.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's name to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department or a pet charity of your choice.
