Daniel "Dan" Gazella

Daniel "Dan" Gazella, 63, Sobieski, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, June 28, 2022, surrounded by family. The son of Donald and Eunice (Matzke) Gazella was born July 5, 1958, in Green Bay.

Dan was a 1976 graduate of Pulaski High School. On September 4, 1976, he married Linda Prentice at St. John Cantius Church, Sobieski. Dan worked as a carman for 20 years at Chicago Northwestern Transportation Co. and in maintainence at Green Bay Cheese for 20 years.

An outdoorsman, Dan loved hunting, fishing, trapping, and taking hunting trips out west. He also enjoyed wood-working, and country-western and sci-fi movies. He was a legendary storyteller with maybe some slight embellishment attached to his stories. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda; two children: Sara (Jason) Helgeson and Casey Gazella (Keith Benjamin); his three grandchildren: Josh, Sydnee, and Zach; five siblings: Mark (Patti) Gazella, Rick Gazella, Randy Gazella, Kathi (Jerry) Simonis, and Karolyn Gazella; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dean and Jane Prentice; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Doug (Linda) Prentice, Jeff Prentice (Gail Sabotta), Cheryn (Dan) Holstead, Brad (Lynne) Prentice, and Greg Prentice. He is further survived by his faithful companions: Chipper, Lacey, and Frisco; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Eunice; and a nephew, Cody Magee.

Friends are invited to gather with family at St. Maximilian Church, 6051 Noble St., Sobieski, on Wednesday, July 6, from 9-11 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Fr. Francis Nussi presiding. Burial will follow in St. John Cantius Cemetery, Sobieski.
