Daniel Hartlaub Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Oct. 28, 2025.
Daniel C. "Danny" Hartlaub, age 63, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1970, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 25, 2025, after a courageous 1½-year battle with cancer. In his final days, he was surrounded by the love of his wife and children.
Born on April 7, 1962, in Manitowoc, WI, Danny was the beloved husband of 33 years to Joanie Hartlaub (née Morgan), whom he married on December 23, 1994. He was the loving father of Timothy Soto, Jacquelyn (fiancé, Joe Squeo) Hartlaub, and Alex Hartlaub; devoted son of Alice (née Snowden) Hartlaub of Naperville and the late Gerald "Jer" Hartlaub; and cherished son-in-law of the late Joan and Arthur "Jim" Morgan. He was the dear brother of Rodney (Terry Starbuck) Hartlaub of Naperville and Jeffrey Hartlaub of Burbank, CA; fond brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, uncle, great-uncle, and friend to many. Danny will also be deeply missed by his dog, Rosie, and his grand dogs Macey, Waylon, Kaner and Luna.
Danny was born in Manitowoc, WI, and at just five days old, his parents brought him home to Addison, Illinois, where he spent his early childhood before the family settled in Naperville in 1970.
From a young age, Danny showed an incredible work ethic. As a boy, he woke up at 4:00 a.m. to deliver newspapers on his bike before school and later began building custom furniture with his brother. He graduated from Naperville North High School in 1980.
In 1988, Danny founded Hart Erectors Inc. in Naperville - a company that began installing athletic equipment and eventually specialized in bleacher installation. Under his leadership, Hart Erectors grew into one of the premier installation and service companies in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.
Danny was an avid golfer who loved spending his free time on the course with friends and colleagues. He also enjoyed trips to the casino and horse tracks, and especially vacations in Las Vegas with his wife.
Danny will always be remembered for his humor, his ability to make others laugh, and the love he had for his wife and children. His hard work and dedication leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, 1:00-5:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL.
Interment will be private.
