Daniel L. Hejny (Danny), age 64, passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2025, surrounded by family. Born August 02, 1960, to the late Joseph “Larry” and Joanna (nee Halupka) Hejny, he resided in Cleveland, OH. Danny was a devoted father to Donielle Cox. The loving grandfather of Kameron and Madison Karlowicz. Danny welcomed fatherhood and being a grandfather with pride and joy. Danny was a cherished brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Danny was preceded in death by his former spouse Debra Jean (nee Cox) Hejny, sisters Ann Hejny, and Heidi-Ann (nee Hejny) Sparks, his brother-in-law Larry Wayne Sparks and brother-in-law Daniel “Danny” Kaczmarski, his brothers Gary Joe Hejny and Karl Hejny. Two sisters Leana Hejny and Laura (nee Hejny) Kaczmarski survive Danny.
Danny loved traveling between Ohio and his second home, Tennessee. Danny enjoyed many hobbies throughout his lifetime such as riding his Harley, going to Bike Week, being out on the lake in his pontoon, going to the racetrack, and finding the next deal. Danny had a special place in his heart for Dachshunds, he was the proud father to four Dachshunds in his lifetime. Danny did it his way and enjoyed doing so.
Danny retired from the City of Cleveland, lived a full life, and was also a self-made man. He touched the lives of many people along the way, maintaining lifelong friendships with an abundance of people.
Danny will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Family and friends are welcome on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m., Slone & Co. Funeral Directors 13115 Lorain Ave. Cleveland, OH 44111. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (Brook Park, Ohio).
