Mr. Daniel Wayne "Slick" Helt

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Daniel "Slick" Wayne Helt, a cherished soul who left us peacefully on April 2, 2025, in Brownstown, Indiana at the age of 62. He was born on November 22, 1962, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Roger and Charlotte Helt. Slick's love for his friends and family, zest for life, and sense of humor touched all who knew him.
Mr. Helt's life was marked by his love for the open road. As a truck driver for Helt Enterprises, he spent countless hours behind the wheel, delivering loads.
Beyond his professional life, Slick was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. His Harley Davidson was more than a mode of transportation; it was a symbol of the freedom he cherished. Friends and family would often speak of his joy as he rode, the wind in his hair, and a beaming smile on his face. These moments encapsulated the essence of a man who lived for the simple pleasures and the adventure of the journey.
Survivors include his daughter, Madison Helt of Columbus; son, Shawn (Jeanette) Helt of Austin; grandchildren, Kai Helt, Makayla Helt, Zachary Helt, Avan Helt, Greyson Helt; sister, Debra Helt, also of Austin; uncle, Raymond (Betty) King of Columbus; aunt, Ruth King of Newport, Virginia; nephews, Nathan Rucker, Adam Rucker and Jacob Rucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; uncles, Chuck King and Dale King, and aunt, Sue King
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Luke Maggard officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. In keeping with the family's request, cremation will take place after the funeral service.
Inurnment will take place at Uniontown Cemetery.
