Tonya Jo Helt, age 56, passed away peacefully on Jul 20, 2025while surrounded by her family after complications from a stroke.
Tonya was born on November 19th, 1968 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Arnold and Wanda Helt. She graduated from Apostolic Christian Academy in Farmersburg, Indiana. Tonya had a passion for helping others and spent many years devoted to others through her work as a CNA. She was a compassionate and empathetic woman that made a connection and left her with anyone that she crossed paths with.
Tonya is survived by her daughters, Angel Strader and Junenna (Matt) Young and son, Jaime (Brittany) Helt. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eli and Blake Young and Skylar and Cheyenne Hall who she loved and cherished more than anything in the world. Tonya is survived by her mother, brother, Tony (Jackie) Helt; a special nephew, Levi Helt, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold; brother, Randy Helt; grandparents, Maurice and Dorothy Budd, and Floyd and Lenora Helt.
Tonya loved to crochet, do her nails, and plant flowers, but above all else she took great pride in her family; especially her children and grandchildren. There wasn’t a day that she didn’t let her children know how proud she was of them.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at New Vermillion Cemetery on Sandford Road in West Terre Haute, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Fitzpatrick Funeral Home in care of Tonya Helt. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
