Robert Lee Elkins Jr., of West Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, September 18th, 2025. Rob was born on June 10th, 1968, to Robert Elkins Sr. and Violet Rose (Montgomery) Elkins.
A proud graduate of West Vigo High School, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1985 to 1988, a chapter of his life that shaped his character and deepened his love for both God and country. He would go on to marry Lori (Wyrick) Elkins on April 7th, 1990. His infectious laughter and welcoming spirit meant that he never met a stranger; Rob had a unique ability to connect with others and spread warmth wherever he went. Rob loved working with his hands, whether engaging in painting or woodworking. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Rob was an active member of the community and regularly attended services at the Family Worship Center, where he drew strength and inspiration from his faith. Rob always said “This is a win-win for me! If I’m healed I stay here with my family and if not I get to be with Jesus!” On Thursday, Rob won and he stepped into the presence of God.
Rob is survived by his wife, Lori; his children, Devon Elkins and Alicia Elkins; his father, Robert Elkins Sr.; and sister, Penny W. Counterman (Eric). He is preceded in death by his mother, Violet Rose Elkins.
