Sharon Y. McCray, 75, of Columbus, passed from this life at 12:56 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2026 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Sharon was born May 14, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Lawrence and Gladys Stark Shelly. On November 17, 1977 she married Jerry W. McCray.

Mrs. McCray prided herself in taking care of her family and that is what she did for 48 years with her husband, Jerry. She loved cooking, cooking for everyone and all of the dishes were amazing, especially her homemade noodles. Working outdoors was relaxing for Sharon. Her favorite game was Yahtzee and she was ready to play with anyone.

Survivors include her children, Tony (Missy) McCray of Georgia, Brent (Teresa) McCray of Columbus, Crystal (Todd) Hanner, also of Georgia; siblings, Dale E. (Debbie) Shelly of Freetown, Debbie (Ron) Pelley of Indianapolis, Larry Shelly of Florida; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jerry.

The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will take place next to her husband at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
