Daniel Ray Johnson, 81 went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2026 at his home in Lynn Haven, Florida. He was born June 8, 1944 Benson, North Carolina.

Daniel graduated from Meadow High School and joined the Navy at the age of eighteen, following in his father's footsteps by becoming a SeaBee. He saw many exciting duty stations in his career. They included Puerto Rico, Iceland, Alaska, Germany, Quantico, Italy, Camp David and numerous American embassies in Europe. He retired in 1985 as a Chief Petty Officer, and Construction Electrician Instructor. He then started a new career working for a local marina that built and tested boats for the Department of Defense. He retired in 2006 to enjoy fishing and teaching his new wife how to play golf.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Mary Motyka Johnson, his mother Mavis Horton Johnson, and his father, Luther D Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Laura McMullen Johnson, his daughter, Dawn Marie Johnson, his sister, Debbie Johnson Ayscue (Don), his brother, Ronald Johnson, and his niece, Amber Ayscue.

Visitation will be at 11:00 AM on February 6, 2026, at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church.

The funeral will be at 12 noon on February 6, 2026, at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church with a celebration of life to follow in Battin Hall at the church.

The service will be officiated by Fr. Forbes Sirmon, and Fr. Steve Bates

Burial will be at the Garden of Memories and the McMullen Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Veterans' charity of your choice.
