Daryl Johnson, 72, of Irvington, New Jersey went home to be with the Lord peacefully at home on January 21, 2026. He was the second born to Clarence and Beatrice Johnson, who have proceeded him in death. He leaves behind siblings, Clarence (Mary), Scott (Susan), Ronald (Brenda), Elaine (Glenn), Daniel (Marilyn), Glen (Lorraine). Two brothers, Robert and David, have proceeded him in death.

Daryl was raised in Garfield New Jersey, where he attended the public school system. At Garfield High School, Daryl earned letters in wrestling and football before deciding to enlist in the United States Army. He was stationed in Hawaii for his entire enlisted service.

After leaving the army, Daryl traveled extensively across the United States and Europe. During this time he dedicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Upon his arrival back to the US, he became a Greyhound commercial bus driver, traveling exclusively on the East Coast and throughout Canada. He married Angel and out of their union was born three children, John, Elijah, and Charity.

Post retirement, he continued to serve the Lord by donating his time to the Saddle Brook Food Pantry by delivering food to the elderly and shut-ins. He also supplemented his military pension by transporting cars to automobile dealerships throughout the state of New Jersey.

Daryl had a profound love of cars and at any time he would own several cars. He enjoyed being at all the family gatherings. During his free time you could hear Daryl playing gospel hymns on his guitar.

Daryl leaves behind many who loved him, including his children, John, Elijah, and Charity, his grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Daryl was Daryl…….
