LTC (R) Daniel H "Dan" Kinsinger passed away on June 6, 2025 he was 76 years old.
Dan was born in Ottumwa Iowa on July 21, 1948. He was the son of Homer G. Kinsinger and Evelyn F. (McWilliams) Kinsinger.
He married Connie K. Hering on August 24, 1968 in Bloomfield, Iowa. They enjoyed a full life together until her death on January 9, 2018. To this union 1 son was born, Brian Michael Kinsinger, on January 30, 1976. Brian passed away March 21, 2025.
He earned his BSN degree from Northeast Missouri State (Now Truman State University) in the spring of 1971 in Kirksville, MO. He entered active duty with the Army Nurse Corps in July 1971. He served in numerous Army hospitals throughout the world including tours in Viet Nam and Operation Desert Storm/Shield. Although they enjoyed every assignment, Dan and Connie especially enjoyed their tour in Heidelberg Germany and the time they spent visiting countries in Europe.
Throughout his military nursing career Dan functioned in numerous clinical areas including ICU/CCU, Orthopedics, Oncology, Infection Control, Risk Management, Clinical Education and supervisory/management positions. He received numerous awards and decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Legion of Merit.
Upon retirement from Active Duty in 1993, he spent 18 years assisting military beneficiaries as manager of the TRICARE Service Center at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital on Fort Polk, LA. On his retirement from Humana Military Healthcare Services, Dan was honored by the State of Kentucky in being proclaimed a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor.
Dan was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife and his son Brian.
Survivors include grandson, Kristopher, granddaughter, Zoe, and brother, Michael Kinsinger of Carrollton, TX.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
