Wednesday, March 6, 1946 – Saturday, May 3, 2025
Daniel Kirkendoll, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, at Dodge County Hospital in Eastman, Georgia. Mr. Kirkendoll was a resident of McRae Manor Nursing Home. Born into a life of service and community, Daniel's legacy is one of love and dedication to his family.
The family will receive friends at Lowes Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 6 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Mr. Kirkendoll will be laid to rest beside his late wife in Owensboro, Kentucky.
A proud Vietnam Veteran and a 1964 graduate of Daviess County High School in Owensboro, Kentucky, Daniel's early years were marked by a commitment to his country and a solid foundation of education. His life was further enriched when he married the love of his life, Nancy Hagman Kirkendoll, on April 2, 1971. Together, they built a life in Owensboro, Kentucky, where Daniel's passion for barbecue led him to a fulfilling career as a pit cook at Moonlite Barbecue.
After many years in Owensboro, Daniel and his family moved to Thomasville, Georgia, where he continued to serve his community, this time in environmental services at Archbold Memorial Hospital. His dedication to his work was unwavering until his well-deserved retirement. Following the passing of his beloved wife, Nancy, Daniel made his home in McRae-Helena, where he remained a constant source of strength and love for his family.
Daniel's life was a tapestry of interests that reflected his vibrant spirit. He found joy in umpiring softball, a testament to his love for sports and fair play. A keen observer of life, he enjoyed people watching. He had a passion for Naskar and the University of Kentucky Wildcats, but his greatest passion was his grandchildren. Watching them grow, strengthen their faith in God, and succeed in sports and academics brought him immense pride and happiness.
He is survived by his loving children, Michelle Kirkendoll Morris (Mike) of McRae-Helena and Chris Kirkendoll (Shelly) of Thomasville. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, William Michael Morris (Millie), Maggie Lucille Morris of McRae-Helena, Blake Christopher Kirkendoll of Statesboro, Macey Olivia Kirkendoll, and Morgan Alyssa Kirkendoll of Thomasville.
Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hagman Kirkendoll, and his siblings, Madgie Simmons, Barbara Martin, Dean Layton, and his twin brother, Donny Kirkendoll.
Daniel Kirkendoll's life was a journey of love, service, and commitment to the things that mattered most to him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Daniel's story is one of a life well-lived, and his memory will be cherished forever.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at McRae Manor Nursing Home for their unwavering support and kindness during Daniel's time with them.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Telfair County Recreation Dept Baseball/Softball, 408 E. Oak St., McRae, Georgia, 31055.
