“When all is said and done, grief is the price we pay for love.” It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Daniel Frank Levstek, 81, who left this world to go Home. Surrounded by his loving family, Dan passed away on March 12, 2024, following an extended illness.

Dan had a fantastic career as a metallurgist. He graduated from Case Western Institute of Technology in 1964. Dan enjoyed a 40-year career as an energy industry executive for Babcock and Wilcox, holding positions in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. His career took him throughout the world, and finally to Erie, their home for the last 23 years. Here in Erie, Dan retired as the CEO for CMI Energy and mentored international business students as an Executive-in-Residence at Penn State Behrend Black School of Business.

Dan touched so many lives in his volunteer work. Dan was a passionate supporter and past treasurer of the Mercey Center for Women. He was a lifetime member and senator for The United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees). Dan’s faith and charity extended to his Catholic community.  He acted as a regular liturgist and eucharistic minister to his church for most of his adult life.

He embraced life, a lover of travel, food, wine, SCOTCH, his God, and above all his wife and family. Dan leaves behind a legacy of love. He is preceded in death by his son David (Gail). He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marianne, and his children Darren (Ingrid), Dan (Karen), Dedee (Brian), and Dean.  Dan was a devoted grandfather to Elizabeth, Daniel, Sabine, Liam, Emma, Fischer, Anna, Alex, Leah, Cassidy, and Grant.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dan’s life at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7100 Ridge Road, Fairview, PA on Saturday, March 16 at 10:00AM.
