“Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.” As we say goodbye to Marianne Louise Levstek, we also rejoice that she is reunited with her husband Dan, her son David, and her Lord. Surrounded by the love of her family, Marianne unexpectedly left this world on August 4th, 2024 at the age of 82. Marianne spent her life in service to others.
In her early career as the Development and Public Relations Manager for Sunbeam Residential Development Center in Kitchener, Ontario, she spent countless hours raising millions to support the care of children with disabilities. As an expat in countries throughout Europe, Marianne continued helping her community through volunteerism, where she secured funding for the creation of the first Ronald McDonald House in Ankara, Turkey. Marianne finished her career working in the Erie community fundraising for the Erie Philharmonic.
Throughout her career and even into retirement, Marianne served her community with a passion and unwavering dedication. Her efforts did not go unnoticed and she received several international awards for her service with the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA, The United Way, before coming to serve the Erie community. In Erie, she volunteered with the Erie Welcome Club, Presque Isle Nature Center, and The Mercy Center for Women- where she was recognized for her work as one of their Women Making History in 2010.
Above all else, Marianne’s greatest accomplishment was her family. Marianne was preceded by her devoted and loving husband of 60 years, Dan and her son David (Gail). She is survived by her children Darren (Ingrid), Daniel (Karen), Dedee (Brian), and Dean (Kristen). Marianne was a devoted grandmother to Elizabeth, Daniel, Sabine, Liam, Emma, Fischer, Anna, Alexandra, Leah, Cassidy, and Grant.
Friends may call at Holy Cross Church, 7100 Ridge Rd., Fairview, PA on Friday, August 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and are invited to celebrate Marianne’s life with a funeral mass there on Saturday, August 10th at 10:00 a.m.
