Daniel Linthicum Obituary

Daniel " Danny" Gaston Linthicum, Jr., 79, passed away on January 30, 2026. Born on April 6, 1946, Daniel was a longtime resident of Thomasville, North Carolina, and lived a life defined by loyalty, hard work, and a deep love for animals, family, and the open road.

Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rhonda Linthicum, with whom he shared a remarkable love story. The two met in 1966 and, after only two weeks of dating, were married on March 25, 1966. Their marriage endured for over five decades until Rhonda's passing in 2018. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Daniel "Buddy" Gaston Linthicum, Sr. and Alma Irene Prendergast Linthicum; his brother, Jerry Linthicum; and his sons, Buddy Linthicum and Toby Linthicum.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Hall, and her husband, James. He is also survived by Jennifer, the partner of his late son, Toby. Daniel leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Michael and wife Julianne, Maranda, Samantha and husband Tony, Kaley and husband Austin, Emmerson, and Tyce. He was a proud great-grandfather to Colt, Raylan, Avery, Michael, Cooper, and Tucker.

Daniel is further survived by his beloved English Bulldog, Hope; several nieces and nephews; and his dear friends at Lotus Village Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Sparta, North Carolina, who held a special place in his heart.

A devoted animal lover, Daniel once owned the only pet store ever opened in Thomasville, North Carolina. Throughout his life, he bred, raised, and trained both dogs and birds, finding great joy and purpose in their care. He was also a longtime truck driver with a passion for big trucks, traveling roads across the United States. In his spare time, he enjoyed Corvettes, classic cars and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

While Daniel was a caring and loyal man, his trust was not easily given-making it all the more meaningful if you earned the honor of being called his friend.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, North Carolina. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the funeral home. A burial will follow the service at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point, NC.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Dementia Society of America or to the Lotus Village Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Sparta, North Carolina.
