Daniel McCliment Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Ltd. - Dixon on Mar. 13, 2024.
Daniel "Dan" Edward McCliment, 60, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, after a short illness. Dan was originally from the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL, and at the time of his passing was a resident of Franklin Grove, IL.
Dan was born on January 13, 1964, in Chicago, the son of Donald "Don" and Louise (Kardaras) McCliment. He graduated in 1982 from Saint Ignatius College Prep in Chicago, where his love of Mathematics and Latin saw him at the top of his class, even taking over instruction of his Latin class on occasion.
Dan was incredibly adventurous and loved camping in the mountains, deserts, and woods on Boy Scout trips and family vacations. He loved to fish and found many opportunities throughout the Midwest; he could always be found with "the crew" at Montrose Harbor every April night-fishing for smelt under the twinkling lights of the Chicago skyline. As an adult, he spent years working as a long-haul truck driver, where he was able to explore the U.S. He was a fantastic mechanic and it seemed there wasn't a thing he couldn't fix, re-program, or re-build. Dan loved his family, was an amazing cook, and a natural caregiver. He could often be found listening to "News Radio 78" with a cat on his lap, and spending time with family on Cape Cod. Above all, Dan was the most wonderful brother and son. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Dan is survived by his loving parents, Don and Louise McCliment; four cherished sisters, Terri Adams-McCliment, Eileen Lamb, Margaret McCliment, Elizabeth McCliment; nieces and nephews, John Lamb, Nicole Cameron, Saer McCliment; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear animals.
Dan was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in Dan's honor. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, in Dixon.
