Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brenner Mortuary Funeral & Cremation Services on Feb. 8, 2026.
Daniel Norman Minnis was born on December 22, 1961, in
Chillicothe, Missouri. He spent much of his life calling
Pittsburg, Kansas home, a place that shaped him and where many of his closest relationships were formed. For the past eight years, Daniel lived in
Overland Park, Kansas, where he moved to be closer to family-something that mattered deeply to him.
Daniel was a devoted husband to his wife, Jeannette Kennedy Minnis, and a proud and loving father. He is survived by his children: Brandon Joseph Crespino (wife Joanna), Joshua Seth Minnis, and Danielle Nicole Geandomenico (husband Marco). Few roles brought him greater joy than being "Papi." He adored his grandchildren: Phoebe Isla Crespino (16), Lainey Mae Crespino (13), Theresa Antonia Geandomenico (11), Antonia Danielle Geandomenico (9), Daniel Gaetano Geandomenico (3), and Gianna Isabella Geandomenico (2).
Daniel is also survived by his father, Albert Minnis, and Albert's wife, Linda Minnis; his mother, Mary Ann Shannon; his brother, Bryan Minnis (wife Kursten); and his sister, Donna Keith (husband Lee). He was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by many.
Daniel's commitment to learning shaped both his career and the life of service he went on to lead. He attended the University of Missouri, Oral Roberts University, and Southwest Missouri State University. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery with honors from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry. After completing dental school, he moved to
Pittsburg, Kansas, where he founded Accent Dental and subsequently Accent Dental Ft. Scott, building a highly successful practice that has served the community for more than 35 years.
His work was never just a profession-it was a calling. Daniel believed deeply in giving back and supporting those around him. He was active in civic and political efforts focused on ensuring access to excellent medical, dental, and mental health care for all. In 2003, he founded the first Community Health Dental Clinic in Southeast Kansas, a milestone achievement that reflected his lifelong commitment to service and later leading KMOM Kansas Mission of Mercy efforts by providing free oral healthcare to patients of all ages who cannot otherwise afford or access care.
Throughout his career, Daniel dedicated approximately 1/3 of his dental practice to caring for underserved members of the community, ensuring that children, individuals with mental challenges, and those who were frail or elderly received gentle, professional, and dignified care. His compassion, advocacy, and sense of responsibility to others defined his life's work as much as his clinical skill.
A man of faith, Daniel was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where his beliefs guided his values and actions. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his unwavering integrity, and his belief that everyone deserves to be cared for with respect and kindness.
Daniel's legacy lives on through the family he loved the patients he served, and the community he helped build. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Robert McElwee as celebrant. To honor Dan's vision and contributions to the future Mount Carmel Hospice House, the family suggests donations to Mount Carmel Hospice House care of CHS/SEK, 3015 N. Michigan,
