Daniel "Dan" Moore, born November 12, 1948, to the late Charles and Genevieve Moore in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2025. A graduate of Bethel Park High School (Class of 1967), Dan went on to complete trade school as a diesel mechanic before serving his country as a Private First Class (E-2) in the United States Marine Corps. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 56 years, Judy Hensler. He is also survived by his daughters, Ashley (Jeremy Shoemaker) and Courtney (Teffery Jordan); his grandchildren, Skylar Jordan and Danny Shoemaker; and his sisters, Linda (Ronald Pettigrew) and Sharon (George Swinney), along with many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles (Cheryl Moore). Born and raised in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, Dan devoted the majority of his life to serving the community he oved. After returning from military service, he worked briefly in Pittsburgh's steel mills before joining the Municipality of Bethel Park as a mechanic in 1971, where he remained until his retirement. Dan was a proud and dedicated life member of the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company for 54 years, during which he held

nearly every rank-including more than 28 years as Fire Chief-along with roles as Deputy Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, and Engineer. His dedication to public safety and his community earned him numerous recognitions, including two Firefighter Medals of Honor for saving multiple lives, both civilian and firefighter.

Shortly after retirement in 2014, he and Judy moved to Calabash, North Carolina, where he continued his life of helping others and remained committed to service as an active member of the Calabash Fire Department, responding to countless calls with the traffic operations team. For the past three years, he was recognized for answering the most volunteer fire and rescue calls-an accomplishment that speaks to his tireless passion for helping others. Dan was endlessly creative and gifted with his hands. Whether crafting specialized firefighting tools, repairing equipment, or building toys and playhouses for his grandchildren, there was little he couldn't make or fix. He treasured time spent deer hunting with friends, playing poker and Monopoly cards, and tackling any household project that came his way. He was most proud of his 56 years of marriage to Judy and his beloved children. But it was in the laughter and love of his grandchildren that he found his greatest happiness. To Dan, Skylar and Danny were not just grandchildren-they were his heart's greatest blessing.

A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Calabash Fire Department, 892 Persimmon Road SW, Calabash, NC, 28467. A service of remembrance hosted by the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:00 PM, at Brightwood Station, 5213 Brightwood Road, Bethel Park, PA, 15102. All are welcome to attend either or both events in honor of Dan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company or the Calabash Fire Department.
