Daniel Ray Morrison, aged 78, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born on August 25, 1947, in Washington, DC, Daniel lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a passion for the things he loved.
A proud veteran of the US Navy, Daniel served his country with honor before retiring from a distinguished career in government. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life into his personal interests, which included crafting sports paraphernalia and nurturing a love for gardening. As a devoted fan of UNC sports, he often sported the team's colors with pride.
Daniel's humor and wit brought joy to those around him, while his methodical nature and organizational skills were admired by his close friends. He was deeply intelligent and took great pride in maintaining his cherished 2008 Acura with meticulous care.
He was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, where he formed lifelong connections and instilled an enduring love for learning. Daniel carried forward values of loyalty and community in all his endeavors.
Daniel's heart was large and full of love, especially for his beloved mother and his cat, Scootsy, both of whom were constant companions in his life. Preceded in death by his parents, Knox Dempsey "KD" Morrison and Nancy Guy Morrison, Daniel leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and diligence.
