Daniel S. Nielsen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Daniel. Danny loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. He was a fun, devoted loving husband, brother and friend. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side holding hands, "Precious Lord take my Hand"…

Danny worked as a member of I.B.E.W. Local 94 for 25 years. He was a tree trimmer/lineman through all seasons and storms with his beloved co-workers who were as close as brothers through the decades. We remember our beloved Danny as having a great sense of humor and loved joking around. If you heard his horn on his truck, you would think a train was coming!

Danny was passionate and energetic his whole life enjoying times with his wife, family and friends and especially his beautiful dogs over the years. Danny often spoke of his grandfather, Papa Frank Anania, his Uncles Frank and Rudy Anania and beloved cousins having wonderful feasts together and special times outdoors, hunting birds with their dogs.

Danny enjoyed his father-in-law Mel Zelenak. They would always be laughing and joking. The feasts at the Zelenak's table were also a joy and loving memory.

Danny and Colleen loved hunting, fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle, gardening and planting amazing fruit trees. They loved going to car shows with his friends, enjoying his red and white 1978 Ford pickup. They loved taking walks with their precious dog. He especially loved going to Heidelbergs in Keansburg to enjoy a hot dog with friends where he had fond memories of his childhood. May the sound of the sweet mandolin of days past be heard in our hearts.

Danny is survived by his loving wife Colleen; Colleen's daughter Vanessa Gerrard of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; his siblings and their spouses, Ralph Anania; Laura and Darryl Bennett of Monmouth Junction, NJ; Jon and Mary Ann Nielsen of Cliffwood Beach, NJ, and will be missed greatly by many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday, August 15th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 81W. Main Street, Freehold. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM. Interment is private. To leave a condolence please visit www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.
