Daniel R. O'Connell

Daniel R. O'Connell, 79, of Easton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at home with his loving wife by his side.
Born November 4, 1946, in Forks Township, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas M. and Irene (Luhrs) O'Connell.
He and his wife, Sandra L. (Sigman) O'Connell, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 18, 2025.
Dan graduated from Easton Area High School, Class of 1964. He attended Lafayette College and Northampton Community College.
He served as a signalman in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in San Diego, CA, and was aboard the USS Saint Paul on three cruises.
Dan retired from the former Triton, previously ITT, Palmer Township, where he was employed for 46 years.
He was a loving husband, father and "Papper" who was proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending their activities and sporting events. Dan loved spending time with family, especially beach vacations to the Outer Banks, NC and Wildwood, NJ. He enjoyed casino trips, lottery tickets and scratch-offs.
Dan was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, Easton football, wrestling and baseball, and Penn State and Notre Dame football. Years ago, he coached youth baseball in Easton and youth baseball and softball in Palmer Township.
In addition to his wife, Sandy, he is survived by a son, Patrick S. O'Connell and his wife Claudia, of Palmer Township; a daughter, Jennifer O. Goffredo and her husband Daniel, of Boyertown; five grandchildren, Avery and Daniel Goffredo, Daniela, Emma and Gabriela Mutis; a brother, Thomas O'Connell and his wife Elizabeth, of Arvada, CO; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John O'Connell, and five sisters, Virginia Mich, Margaret Gray, Barbara Haas, Elizabeth Stangle and Mary Gellock.
Service will be held at 11am Wednesday, December 3rd, in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 602 W. Berwick Street, Easton. Call Tuesday 5-7pm and Wednesday 10-11am in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com.
